Stress Management Techniques with Scientific Evidence

Breathing regulation: 4-7-8 breathing (inhale 4 seconds, hold 7 seconds, exhale 8 seconds) activates the parasympathetic nervous system through extended exhalation; physiological sigh (two deep inhales followed by slow exhalation) — Stanford research found this is the fastest breathing technique for reducing acute stress. Each use takes only 30 seconds with immediate effect.
