1. Jinglei Li (also known as Michiko Nishimura) is of Chinese-Japanese descent. Her mother, Li Yaomin, was a Hong Kong star who first married a Japanese man and later became the mistress of Taiwanese tycoon Chen Feilong. Jinglei grew up in Taiwan, but her background remains somewhat murky.

2. As early as 2003, 18 years before the scandal broke, Wang Leehom was photographed by media and fans visiting a gynecology hospital. He claimed the woman with him was his "sister" named "Michiko" — who was actually Jinglei Li. She was frequently seen at his concerts and behaving intimately with him.

3. After Wang suddenly announced his marriage to Jinglei, Taiwanese media reported that she had been engaged to another man, Darwin Huang, in February of that same year. Her ex-fiancé was reportedly shocked, stating they had been together for four to five years and even shared a dog — which later appeared in photos of Wang and Jinglei. (Jinglei later denied this on Instagram, calling it slander.)

4. Wang announced his marriage in November, and their first child was born the following July with no signs of prematurity. This supports Wang's father's claim that the marriage was a shotgun wedding.

5. It's clear that Wang's family never accepted Jinglei. In a family photo Wang released, Jinglei was actually photoshopped in (note that Wang's mother's hand in the original became Jinglei's hand in the edited version). Although she married Wang, she was never embraced by the Wang family, especially his parents. So claims of long-term emotional abuse are highly plausible.

6. Jinglei likely had no contact with Wang for a long time and had a new boyfriend, with whom she was in a five-year relationship and engaged. But by chance, she reconnected with Wang in 2013, and without protection, she became pregnant.
7. Jinglei's ex-fiancé Darwin Huang is no slouch — he holds a PhD in law and works at a Hong Kong law firm. But few men can compete with Wang Leehom's looks and perfect image. Once Jinglei was pregnant with Wang's child, it's no surprise Darwin was dumped after the engagement.

8. Jinglei claimed she was pursuing a graduate degree at Columbia University, but no enrollment record was found. Chinese media visited Columbia, and Chinese student circles there said they had never heard of her. However, a person with the same name was found at Yeshiva University, a private Jewish school in New York, where her advisor also had a project at Columbia.

9. Jinglei likely loved Wang from a young age. There are many Darwins in the world, but only one Wang Leehom. Though Wang appeared glamorous, his mother tightly controlled his finances, and the burden of being a perfect idol weighed heavily on him. It's understandable that he had psychological issues.
10. Jinglei holds a master's in clinical psychology. She probably thought she could handle Wang's mental problems — a classic case of savior complex. Many women fantasize about Wang Leehom changing his ways for them and healing his trauma.
11. After becoming pregnant, Jinglei likely reached an agreement with Wang: she would act as a pawn to help him wrest financial control from his parents. That's why Wang married her despite strong family opposition.
12. If Jinglei didn't love Wang, she wouldn't have given birth to three children. After marriage, she realized she wasn't the lucky one who could cure his psychological issues — she even tolerated him bringing people home openly. For the sake of the children, all she wanted was the title of wife and to avoid divorce.
13. But Wang disappointed her. They separated in 2019, likely preparing for divorce. Jinglei clearly didn't want to divorce, but Wang insisted, so he had to file for divorce on grounds of irreconcilable differences after two years of separation.
14. Jinglei was used as a pawn and then discarded. Wang probably already has a new lover, male or female. But being used and then kicked while she was down enraged Jinglei.
15. In fact, the two were seen together as recently as October. In just two months, something happened that made Wang rush to announce the divorce even before proceedings were complete — and then the thunderbolt struck.

16. Wang's response repeatedly mentioned the house — the property issue was likely the trigger. As for what else Jinglei wants, we'll have to wait and see.
