**Lianhua Qingwen**: a Lingnan TCM compound formula widely used during COVID-19 after inclusion in China’s COVID treatment guidelines; multiple real-world studies and RCTs have since been conducted (some published in Phytomedicine and the Journal of Ethnopharmacology), though controversy persists.

## Emerging Technology Tools

AI and big data are enabling TCM modernization: NLP mining ancient texts (Compendium of Materia Medica) for prescription-herb patterns; machine learning building syndrome-formula-outcome prediction models; metabolomics and proteomics elucidating the systems biology mechanisms of TCM active compounds.
